Advertising CPM Calculator
Divides campaign cost by a positive whole-number impression count and multiplies by 1,000, while also reporting cost per individual impression.
Limitation: CPM is a normalized cost metric, not a measure of attention, viewability, clicks, conversions, or campaign profitability.
How to Calculate CPM
Use cost and impressions from the same platform report, date range, campaign scope, and impression definition.
Select the currency used for campaign cost.
Label the denominator
Served impressions and viewable impressions are not interchangeable. Record which count you used when comparing placements.
What CPM Measures
CPM expresses how much the entered inventory cost for each block of 1,000 impressions. It can normalize campaigns of different sizes, but it does not adjust for audience quality, frequency, fraud, viewability, or outcomes.
CPM Calculation Examples

Cost and impressions
CPM
500 divided by 100,000 and multiplied by 1,000 equals a CPM of 5.
Zero-cost inventory
Cost and impressions
CPM
A positive impression count with zero entered cost produces zero cost per thousand.
Do not infer performance
Use CTR, conversion, revenue, and profitability metrics separately when the objective extends beyond exposure.
