Calendar age versus elapsed days
Months and years have different lengths, so an exact calendar age cannot be produced by dividing total days by 30 or 365.
What This Age Calculator Measures
The primary result is chronological age expressed as completed calendar units. The calculation first finds the greatest whole number of years that can be added without passing the as-of date. It then does the same for months and counts the remaining days. A February 29 anniversary is clamped to February 28 in a non-leap year for this calculation. The separate total-days figure is the midnight-to-midnight difference between the two date-only values.
