Flooring Calculator
Multiplies room length × width, applies waste, and optionally divides by carton coverage for boxes. Purchase estimate—not a real-estate area converter.
Limitation: Educational material estimate only.
How to Estimate Flooring
Measure each rectangular field, apply waste for your layout, then convert to boxes if the carton lists coverage.
Enter room length and width in feet.
Add rooms separately
Different directions or materials should be estimated as separate runs so waste stays honest.
What Area With Waste Means
The primary result is purchase square footage after waste. It is larger than the bare room area on purpose.
Worked Flooring Examples
20×12 room, 10% waste
Inputs
Sq ft with waste
240 × 1.10 = 264; 264 ÷ 20 → 14 boxes.
Area only, no boxes
Inputs
Sq ft with waste
180 × 1.10 = 198 sq ft when coverage is 0.
Not the same as square-feet tools
A property square-feet calculator converts or reports area. This tool adds waste and optional carton math for buying flooring.
